I blooming love working with the gals behind Skinny Love Weddings pop-up weddings. In January they organised not one, but TWO, days of pop-up weddings marrying NINE couples!! Holy moly.
It was my pleasure to once again be asked to officiate the weddings on the Saturday (with my awesome colleague, Patricia Robbie, doing the Sunday). This was my fifth day with the Skinny Love Wedding team and I hope for many many more. This time we moved venues for the 2019-2020 season and had a ball at the Makara Chapel and the surrounding grounds and hall. This venue is only a 10 minute drive from Karori and has lots of pockets of interesting places for photos – it’s a dream DIY venue.
The day started moody and a wee bit chilly, but then ended up dry with the sun peaking through the clouds – we really did have four seasons in one day. Luckily Billie Brook Photography was along for the ride and took some STUNNING unique pictures of each of the FIVE couples that got hitched on the Saturday.
We also had a new florist on board this year – Holly at Abaca Florist – who provided all the naturally loose and wild florals that perfectly complimented this rustic venue. So many gorgeous flowers for the nine couples throughout the weekend and she’s been locked in for the next weekend too! And Pauline at Sweet Bakery once again provided cakes to the highest standard both for taste and looks.
The best thing about these pop-up wedding days is the vast array of couples that we get to meet. They are all so spunky and so different, but their smiles and happiness are contagious. Congratulations Bianca and Corey; Jess and Gary; Brie and Steven; Fiona and James; and Briar and Daniel! You are all the VIPs of the weekend and thank you for trusting the Skinny Love Wedding team to create you a gorgeous pop-up wedding and for allowing me to be part of your special celebrations.
Such a wonderful (busy!) day and I can’t wait to do it again early in 2020 back at Makara for another whole weekend … We sell out every year in Wellington so hop to it as I think there is only one Sunday spot left!
